Care to Rewear Clothes Swap
Refreshing wardrobes,
reducing waste
Care to Rewear has delivered close to 100 community clothes swaps across the Perth metropolitan and regional area, in partnership with local councils — including a special event featuring sustainable fashion advocate Nina Gbor.
The Care to Rewear Clothes Swap is more than a straightforward exchange of clothing. It regularly features educational sessions led by circular fashion advocates and stylists including Hazel Law (Circular Fashion Festival), Ciara Lowe-Thiedeman (style counsellor), the Slow Fashion Hub, and Loraine Martin (Feelgood Fashionista), covering topics like fast fashion, fibre choices, transparency, and conscious consumption.
Where a council prefers it, the swap runs on a simple token system: bring in quality pre-loved items, earn tokens, spend them on something new-to-you. Format is set in consultation with each council to suit the event and audience.
Across our weekly series at Yagan Square alone, 529 participants diverted over 300kg of textiles from landfill in just 11 sessions.
New for 2026: Thematic Clothes Swaps
Building on our track record, Care to Rewear is introducing structured themed swaps — each built around a specific circular fashion topic, tailored to the season, audience, or a council's waste priorities. Suggested themes include:
Fast Fashion vs Slow Fashion
Natural vs Man-Made Fibres
Repair and Rewear
Party Wear (Christmas, school balls, occasion dressing)
Denim Stories
Transparency and Traceability
